The saga of our Vikings spans three generations, and while every book is written to stand alone, reading in order rewards you with a richer experience — watching families rise, kingdoms shift, and legends take shape across a century of Norse history. That said, not every reader needs to start at the same place. Here's how to find your way in.

If you want to begin at the beginning, historically and emotionally, this is where we'd send you. Viking Ventures opens with a raid that tears two lives apart and sets them on a collision course across the Viking world, from the Norwegian coast to Dublin, Paris, Hedeby, and the heart of Saxon England. It's the story of Ulv, Marcus, and Julia, and of the long roads that carry them from frightened youths to shapers of history.
If you'd like a taste before committing, the free prequel The Silver Goblet is a good place to dip your toe in first.

If you're drawn to the saga of Norway's first great king and the brutal, ambitious world of the earliest Viking Age, Fairhair drops you straight into that story. The Vikings of Norway series sits close to the sagas in tone: larger-than-life figures, political intrigue, and the forging of a nation.

If you'd rather follow a single character on a deeply personal journey, start here. Tora is the daughter of Haakon the Good and a Saxon shieldmaiden, growing up in the shadow of a legendary father and fighting to carve out her own legacy in a world that wasn't built for her. This is a coming-of-age story about identity, belonging, and found family, set against the same historical backdrop as the other series.
If you'd like her full origin first, The Shieldmaiden's Daughter is a good place to start.

Yes. The three series share a world, a history, and occasionally characters. Events in one series cast shadows in another. You won't be lost if you jump in anywhere, but readers who follow the full saga will recognise the threads that bind it all together.
Familiar faces across the saga
Some characters travel with you across series. Ulv, one of the central figures in Viking Ventures, becomes a significant presence in Fairhair, as do Julia, Bjarn, and the half-mad berserker Geir Galne. If you find yourself curious about Geir's origins after meeting him in Viking Ventures, Rage of the Berserk is his story: best read once you know him.
Harald Fairhair himself casts a long shadow: central in Fairhair, he appears again in Bloodaxe and in the background of Haakon the Good. Bethany, the Saxon Shieldmaiden, is a major character in Haakon the Good and returns as Tora's mother in the Shieldmaiden series, which gives her arc a quiet, earned weight if you've followed her from the beginning. Her companion Sinley and Thorvald, grandson of Ulv and the real-life father of Eirik the Red, also appear across both series.
You won't need this map to enjoy any single book. But if you're the kind of reader who likes to notice the threads, they're there.
